About puzzle & logic games
Puzzle games reward patience more than reflexes. There is no clock pushing you along and no opponent waiting for your move — just a board, a set of rules and a problem that has a solution if you look carefully enough. That is why they suit a coffee break as well as a long evening: you can stop after one puzzle or lose an hour chasing a better score.
The games in this section fall into a few families. Number and grid logic puzzles, such as sudoku and picture-reveal nonograms, give you clues and ask you to deduce the only arrangement that satisfies all of them; guessing is never required. Sliding and merging games like Tile Merge 2048 are about planning a few moves ahead while the board slowly fills up. Matching and sorting puzzles — clearing pairs of tiles from a layered layout, or pouring coloured layers until every tube is a single colour — test how well you can see an order of operations before you commit. Spatial puzzles ask you to fit shapes into a grid and clear complete lines.
Every puzzle here is built for both a keyboard and a touch screen, saves your progress in your browser so you can come back later, and remembers your best results on this device. Puzzles that are generated from a seed can be replayed exactly, which is how our daily challenges give every player the same puzzle on the same day.
If you are new to logic puzzles, start with the smaller boards and the easier settings, and resist the urge to guess: in a well-made puzzle the next step is always somewhere on the board, waiting to be noticed. Each game page explains the rules in full and includes strategy tips, from basic techniques to the patterns experienced players look for, plus a little history of where the puzzle came from.
