About card & solitaire games
Card games are among the oldest games still played every day. A standard 52-card deck has been around for centuries, and the solitaire layouts and trick-taking games built on it have outlived countless fashions because they are easy to learn and endlessly varied — every shuffle is a new puzzle.
This section collects card games you can play on your own. Solitaire games such as Klondike, Spider and FreeCell ask you to sort a shuffled deck into order by building columns and moving cards to foundations; some deals are easy, some take careful planning, and a few cannot be won at all. Trick-taking games like Hearts put you at a table with computer opponents, where reading what has been played matters as much as the cards in your hand. Memory games such as Memory Match use face-down cards to test how much you can keep in your head at once.
All of our card games use original card faces and table designs, work with a mouse, a keyboard or a touch screen, and save your progress in your browser so a half-finished game is waiting when you come back. Where a game supports numbered or daily deals, the same deal is shuffled identically for everyone, so you can compare results with friends.
Each game page explains the rules from scratch, offers practical strategy — when to draw, which column to empty first, which cards to hold back — and covers the history and common variants of the game. If you are new to solitaire, start with an easier setting and use the undo button freely while you learn; the habits that win easy deals are exactly the ones that win the hard ones.
